Testament has never been the most auspicious of men. Once a man, converted into a Gear against his will, Testament (who abhorred violence) lost his will and aided in Justice's rebellion. This was the last thing he wanted to do, and his phobia of violence only increased. The halfing was, in the end, his saving grace.

Testament is a character from the fighting game Guilty Gear, then later Guilty Gear X, Guilty Gear XX and most recently Guilty Gear Isuka. In the original game, this harmless man was actually one of the villians - the boss you fight just before Justice. Once Justice is sealed and Testament's true will returns to him, he becomes a playable character in X and XX, and also a very sympathtic one:

After the ordeal with Justice, Testament is forced to come to terms not only with his having become a Gear, but the acts he performed when he had no control over himself. A gentle man by nature, he couldn't deal with it. Until, that is, he met her.

The rest of the story is pretty easy to get. Boy meets girl, girls saves boy. When Testament, despairing of life, saw the suffering that Dizzy had endured, and her continued desire for nothing more than peace - to live seperate from humans, seperate from Gears, uninvolved in the rest of the world - he realized that all he wanted was to give her that. She was just the thing he needed. Testament, too, wanted isolation. In the end, the only person he found any peace in was a girl who was just as quiet as he was.

So why Testament? To be shallow, the first thing that caught my eye was his clothes - because, I mean, you have to admit, the man has style. But I wouldn't make a fanlisting if that was just it. I like Testament because he is a gentle, quiet man. Something you don't really expect to encounter in a fighting game. He is very simple, and very devoted. There's no complex twists and turns or logic, no strange psychological complexes. He's just someone who wants to live in peace with the one he loves. And you have to respect that.
